Best Restaurants in Kauai

Kauai has always been one of my favorite places to eat in Hawai’i. Most of my favorite restaurants are concentrated where I spend the majority of my time - the North Shore. I’ve found most restaurants in Kauai value fresh, quality ingredients which is exactly what I’m looking for when I’m in Hawai’i.

Nourish

One of the best acai bowls I’ve ever had in Hawai’i. Not to mention, this adorable shack is nestled above Hanalei Bay, giving you one of the best views for a quick bite. If you want to et local fruit try the dragonfruit bowl base. They tend to sell out so I wouldn’t wait too late in the day if you want to have your options!

Fresh Bite Farm To Beach

The title gives away everything that needs to be said about this high quality food truck. They only source high quality proteins and try to keep it as local and fresh as possible. Most items on the menu are innovative and the flavor combinations are unique which make it stand out against competition. I also adore the core values of their business- In 2024 they earned the Green Business Award of excellence by adopting energy and water-efficient business practices that promote Hawai’i’s clean energy and sustainability objectives.

Fish Bar Deli

This is one of those spots and you have to come back more than once. I love to eat local fish where it warrants but it’s a big bonus when all the other ingredients are also delicious and fresh. Scratch-made bread, locally caught fish, home-grown greens & veggies - this place does it all. Fish Bar Deli is right in downtown Kapa’a so I love to check out the local stores while I’m waiting for my seat at the bar. The cocktails are also phenomenal and to not be overlooked!

Bar Acuda

This dim light tapas spot sources its ingredients straight from nearby farms and markets, ensuring every dish bursts with the peak-of-season freshness. With a Hawaiian-inspired take on traditional tapas - this place with for sure have some of your most memorable meals in Hanalei. Bar Acuda makes for a romantic date spot as well.

The Fresh Shave

I wasn’t too interested in shave ice until I stumbled along this adorable spot. One of the only places that makes their syrups from scratch using REAL ingredients, this place is a must if you’re only wanting to try this Hawaiian staple. They also top your dessert with fresh fruit which is a huge bonus for me. If you want to have options make sure to get here early because they sell out!

Tiki Tzatziki

Mediterranean food is always a yes for me but this unassuming food truck really stands out for some of the best gyros I’ve ever had. Of course most ingredients are sourced locally and they really aren’t missing out on any flavors. Tiki is one of those spots I always look forward to when I come back to Kauai especially after a long adventure.

Kauai Juice Co.

If you’re looking for a clean, quick bite this is the perfect spot located right in Kapa’a. It’s usually my post flight stop for something healthy. From cold pressed juices, to kelp noodle salads they have anything from light to filling.

AMA

This upscale ramen spot was actually one of my favorite spots for a salad. I know I should be convincing you on the ramen but their other menu items are not to be missed. The aesthetic and cocktails are stunning if that’s the vibe you’re looking for. Make sure to make a reservation as they book out otherwise you can try to catch a bar seat.

1Kitchen

If you’re looking for the most jaw dropping views of Hanalei, 1Kitchen is the place you want to be. This place is pricey but worth it for the view alone. Overlooking the infinity pool and into the gorgeous ridges of Mount Makana and Hanalei Bay, this upscale farm-to-table restaurant should be on everyone’s list. If you’re looking for cocktails and small bites I also highly recommend the Welina Terrace bar right before the restaurant.
